Spiked Cranberry Sauce

This is an extremely easy and impressive recipe to make for Thanksgiving. It travels perfectly, so it is one of the easiest things to make and bring over to someone’s house. I add a little alcohol to my cranberry sauce to take the flavour to a whole other level. It can be made a few days in advance, as the flavour intensifies the longer it sits in the fridge. Warning: you will want to eat it right out of the bowl with a spoon. It’s that good!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of fresh cranberries
  • 1 orange, zest and juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cognac or whiskey
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to simmer and cook until almost all of the cranberries have burst, 10-15 minutes

Let cool completely, cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to eat

Happy Holidays!
